well first on the dashboard it wont show the acurate speed i go for example i could be going 35 mph and the dashboard would show 80 mph or maybe10 mph or even 0 mph at times. 2nd the mileage wont continue the count anymore, it stays at 144,000 and as much as i drive it wont cotinue. Yesterday the check engine light was on and i didnt see any problems with the engine (i didnt notice the speedometer prob till today) so i reset the battery (unplugged neg side) i took the smog test on the car and it passed but we all noticed that the cars speedometer didnt work. So what can it be and how can i fix it? Some say its the cable but i just want to be sure. I have a 98 mustang v6

more than likely it is the cable. unhook from trans w/7/16 openend and see if speedo gear turns cable freely. also check if teeth are missing on speedo gear. last item would be the cluster.contact brothers performance @ 951-735-8880 they have everything in stock except the cluster (junkyard item}
