So I jut want a better understanding of spring stiffness in general, and since David is of absolutely no help :p , I'll ask you guys.
What spring stiffness would be considered too much? How much is desirable? What is the stock spring stiffness?

the way i consider it is the spring plays a big role in determining how a car's suspension behaves. Under compression and rebound the spring is storing and releasing energy. A shock or damper is used to control the energy as it is built up and released, something like a cushion, and similar to how a "shock" on a screen door prevents it from slamming shut. You will notice on the screen door situation it is the rebound slowing the door and not compression.

A stiffer spring will help give resistance to body roll and full compression of a lowered vehicle, but stiffer springs typically sacrifice ride quality for improved performance. This is pretty much the general rule I have come to understand when choosing an upgraded suspension. Suspension gurus may want to chime in at this point.

Okay, so lets just say I was looking at coilovers,

What stiffness woul be good to look for,
And what other factors should I look for?

To me, suspension is way more complicated than any engine. I'd honestly suggest looking at combo kits people provide (Steeda, Strano, FRPP, etc) and just go with one that suits your needs and has good reviews. It's way easier to get something already matched than trying to match it up yourself.

I'd like to lower my Mustang, but after lowering my GP, I've come to realize the minimal increase in look/performance for a strictly street driven car isn't worth the loss in drivability (potholes, driveways, parking issues) and comfort compared to stock. If I auto-x I might reconsider, but otherwise I'd try to stick to stock ride height and play with things like sway bars and better shocks.

i'll always lower my stangs...i think it makes driving so much better...always just remember to buy some good shocks and you won't lose the comfort in your ride :)

that's a bit on the heavy side for a sixxer i'd think...i'm running GT srpings and they are 450 lbs..of course i'm in a lighter body then yours. so i'm sorry i can't answer that too well :/
