Check out this link first for some results:

Intake Test: Paper Filter, K&N, Airraid on Procal and No Procal - SVTPerformance

Some interesting results. Stock (no tuner, no CAI, paper filter), at the rear wheels, 387 HP.

Particular tuner with a couple of different CAI's, 394 to 396 HP at rear wheels.

This is not intended to flame and manufacturer, or setup anyone has. Just something to look at and use when planning a total performance package. I have no experience first hand with any of the mentioned products in the dyno results.

There are other combos that were dyno tested...read the results.

Outcome? Do some homework before laying out cash. Save money using the results of this research the person layed out for us.

The thing to remember is a cai has always been a worthless mod by itself in a modular motor....however with a tune they seem to be worth their salt...thats my research :)

Very true. This result does use a particular tuner; others may have better results.

After going back and actually reading the numbers id say thats average for real world.

Common sense needed

A CAI needs to be in a car that is actually moving down the highway to be tested properly. The cold air comes in through the grill and the faster the car goes the more air comes in the grill.

Trying to test a CAI with a car strapped to a stationary dyno will not tell you much at all.

Even just putting around town in heavy traffic with a stock V6 air cleaner you will have more air in the box then your car needs.

The tuner is what give better performance.

I'm personally going to get a CAI because I like the Eye Candy looks of them when you pop the hood open.

Any type of open filter element in the engine compartment is NOT a cai. And as the air travels through the grill it has to pass through the radiator which transfers heat into that cold air, therefore making it warm air at best....

Show me thermo readings of air before and after the short trip through radiator fins to prove the air still isnt as densly packed...same goes for tubing material...ive yet to see any real evidence that suggests one is better then the other. In the end the tune is whats important

Just look at the designs

A stock 2011 up airbox feeds through the grill and is closed at the top.CAI it is

Look at the Airaid and you will notice it also feeds through the same place the stock airbox feeds from. You will also notice that the airaid is closed at the top when the hood is down. It is a great design and the airbox is slightly larger then the stock airbox. When you pop the hood it looks great and when the hood is closed it seals the top of the airbox.

The 3.7 comes equiped with a CAI that works great if your engine is stock:

Ford is offering a Mustang Club of America Package on the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 to commemorate MCA's 35th anniversary.

The package, Rapid Spec code 203A, is available on coupe and convertible Mustangs, costs $995 and includes a unique Dark Stainless Steel billet grille with a Tri-Bar Pony badge, front lower-mounted fog lamps, side tape stripes, a rear decklid spoiler and a custom decklid tape appliqué between the tail lamps. This Mustang hugs the road with performance-minded 18-inch Dark stainless painted aluminum wheels with P235/50Rx18 BSW A/S tires. The 2011 Mustang V6 comes standard with the all-new 3.7L 4V Ti-VCT V6 engine which achieves an industry-exclusive 305 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque while delivering EPA-estimated 31 hwy MPG. A Ford Racing Technology-designed cold air induction delivers a cold, dense intake charge to the cylinders, which helps achieve increased horsepower. The engine is mated to a new 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. Also, new for 2011, the Mustang V6 features a dual exhaust system.
It is probably as good as anything on a stock tune. It probably needs to be changed to a larger filter if your car is tuned and then it will only be needed at the higher RPM's.

Like I keep saying, I'm getting the Airaid only due to the eye candy factor.

I have heard on this forum and All Mustangs, that the stock CAI is better than the aftermarket units. Not all of them seal well to the hood and let hot air in. For a tune to get better air than stock CAI you need a larger throttle body and air inlet tube.

If you want the "sound" of an aftermarket unit, in one of these forums a guy showed how you can take the mufflers off the side of your stock inlet tube and fiberglass over the holes you made takin' 'em off. I am ordering a new tube to do this with and make it Grabber Blue in color.
