I'm ready to do a tune up on my car (70K miles). Any recomendations on what kind of plugs I should get ? What do you guys think about Royal Purple oil. Any thing I should or should not do? My 09 is stock except for SLP's loud mouth's, BBK cai, and a tune.

Ya personally I just wouldn't run royal purple. I know many people use it and like it but its not as good as everyone thinks. I talked to my tuner about it and a few of my friends that professionally race and they would never use it. They've seen motors blow with this oil and especially a lot of trannys with people running the royal purple tranny fluid. So that turned me off on royal purple. Redline and Mobil 1 are supposed to be about the best. Of course theres other good brands like amsoil and lucas Etc. But There's a reason why more than half of NASCAR and many cars come from the factory now using Mobil 1. It's been proven and works.

Not saying that Mobil 1 isn't good. But NASCAR uses who sponsors them and factory is almost the same thing. My car has BP fuel recommended on the gas cap, which means zero. Only that BP paid Ford for the ad spot. The guys that professionally race on their own dime, that's a good testimonial. Mobil 1 is great stuff.

I personally run Penzoil Ultra 520 in my 06 gt...hands down best synthetic oil on market IMO....still clear on dipstick after 5k between changes....just over 60k so almost time for my plugs to be changed...im think of just going with the motorcraft plugs...cant go wrong with oem parts...all stock for now

Royal purple is not any worse or any better. One "tuners" opinion or even several means nothing. Many engines fail for many different reasons. The oil in the engine at the time then gets a bad rap with no real proof. I'd be willing to bet the failure rate under ANY oil brand is pretty consistent.

One brand one piece plug? I need a tune up this summer also lol.
I doubt you can buy the 2 piece plug anymore. Which brand, always starts a firestorm of opinion. I put in E3's and have not had any problems, they seem good. If you're mostly stock, any of the known brand plugs will be fine.

Stock plugs are two and are prone to breaking when turning them when they have age causing major head aches,

One piece plugs are just traditional plugs.

A good set of Iridium Plugs and I use only Motorcraft Oil and Filters. Ford products. Lucas oil stabilizer is great in 4cyl engines, but it is just too thick for a V8 (IMO). As long as you change your oil & filter every 3-4000k, you will be fine. :good:

Whatever oil you go with, be sure and get the same weight as stock. It will screw up the variable cam timing.

Changing the oil after 8-10k on most synthetics is just fine and even recommended by the manufacturer at times. But I do 5k to always keep it fresh for abuse
