I have a 1989 5.0 convertible and i swapped out a 2.3 to the 5.0 had it running good but motor went out so i got a motor out of a 1996 explorer 5.0 and that has the coil packs cam sensor and crank sersor so i took that off and change it back to distributor also changed the harmonic balancer to the one i had on my first engine i wanted to know if the timing marks would line up with the engine like TDC i used this http://sbftech.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=c0f8b599650daa2eaa9ff148d6821d4d&topic=7114.0 to help me out the but still didnt run right im looking at other things to like sensors also is there a safe way to test plugs there real black i used them to for first start up so mite have got fouled

I was going to try that way with the plugs just want to see if someone knew a different way and thats one of the questions i had to how do i no if its a ho with out taking the cam out and checking the lobes its out a 1996 explorer i didnt think it was ho i know it has gt40p heads that's why i got it

Ok i went back set timing at 10°BTDC started the car up and it sounded good it stayed at 10° then i put the spout back in so computer will control the timing put the timing light back on it ran like 24°BTDC drove it and it was bogging went i gave it gas it would pick up but i have to feather it
