On a 1995 mustang gt, where does the notch have to be on the distributer (roughly). I don't have a timing light and I have been trying to do it by ear but it will either start pinging if I get to close to the Lil clamp or if its too far away it doesn't have the "git up" at full throttle. Please help!!!!

No good way to do it without experience or a timing light, are you 91+ octane, makes a big difference. Are all your spark wires routed correctly? is the cap on correctly?

Yea. It was working fine till I replaced my distributor and forgot to mark it.

You probably put it in a tooth or two off, you could try minor adjustments two that.

If I were you I'd buy a timing light so you don't hurt the timing chain I never move my with out the timing light just in case

Yeah you def need a timing light to get it dialed in correctly. You may be able to even rent one from Auto zone

For tuning just bought one if you run 91+ octane it helps to get a few ponies out of it the lights worth ever $$$ trust me you will use it more then once I use my at the track alot in the summers to see what the motor likes best under higher octane fuels

An if your hearing pining that's not to good for the motor an means your timing defiantly off an is probably not to good for it...
