Hey I'm leaving for mustang week tomorrow in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. One of the events is drag racing at darlington dragway.
Ive 18 and I've never dragged before. I have a 2011 V6 Mustang (im working my *** off for it :p)

If you've ever been to Darlington Dragway, whats the setup/procedure?
What should i do at the wetbox? (stock, street tires)
Just anything else and dont use phrases or expressions...dumb it down aha

Look at a map. Darlington Dragway is over 80 miles from Myrtle Beach, so I don't understand the connection. The biggest thing to do is just go up and watch what other cars are doing at the line. Get a feel for where the timing lights are and how to stage. A common mistake made by newbies is not knowing where the first staging light is and driving right through it. Once you get the feel for staging, the rest is pretty straightforward, but will take practice to do well. If you see green on the tree, you're too late.

a big burnout is not necessary with stock street tires
just a quick burn to remove water and sand
if you have an automatic trans use the left foot on the brake pedal
with a clutch just the edge of right foot so you can do a quick slip to the gas pedal

You can drive around the wet box. Street tires are not going to stick no matter how hot you get them. Take your traction control OFF. Not sport mode either. It kills power as well as apply the brakes. The key to a good time is your 60' launch.

Rev to about 2500 or 3000 and then let the clutch out with just a hint of slip. Tire spin is a bad thing.

You can look up articles on the internet on drag racing procedures. Staging, setup etc.

Then go to http://v6mustangperformance.com/news/2011-mustang-drag-strip-times/ and post your times.

One thing 1st timers don't understand is how the timing system works. The reaction time has nothing to do with the quarter mile time. When the light turns green, the reaction timer starts. Not the quarter mile timer. Once the car starts moving and unblocks the staging beams, it's at that moment when the reaction timer stops and the quarter mile timer starts.

1. Don't let your competition rush you.
2. Don't rush your competition by staging too quickly. It's rude.
3. If you're bracket racing and you see your competitor red light, break, whatever and you know you're going to win just finish your pass. You'd be surprised how much your ET can change when the sun goes down and your timeslip will prove it.
4. Know what you're doing ahead of time. Everything. Know how you'll do your burnout. Know if the track you're at will let you even go through the bleachbox with street tires. Know if you're going to deep stage and label your car if you're going to stage deep.
5. If you want to be competitive keep records of EVERYTHING. Time, air temp, track temp if you can get it, humidity, tire pressure, fuel levels, vehicle temp and ETs. All of this info will start to show patterns that will help you with your dial ins.
6. If you're racing for the first time make sure you're early. Unless you're on a "street legal" night you're probably going to have to get some sort of vehicle inspection before you race. Again, find out ahead of time.
7. No A/C, no radio, and if you're racing at night use taillights only if your vehicle will allow it. (and A/C will leave water on the track.) Not a bad idea to rev your engine before pulling past the bleachbox to get water out of the exhaust system either. Nobody likes a slick track.
8. See rule number 1.

Find a video of someone in a simmilar class racing at Darlington and watch it over and over. Put yourself into their vehicle and KNOW what you're going to do before you get there. If you know what you're doing you can focus on the important things like reaction times!
