Tire Sizes for 18's

What is the largest tire size I can go for a 18'' rim. I want 275/35/18 for rear, and 265/35/18 for front. Would the front tires rub in the fender wells? Or should I go 245/40/18 for the front

what size are the rims? that makes a little bit of a difference. You can't fit a 275 on a 6 inch wide rim very easily ...
265/35/18 is what is run on the 18x9 saleens. I think
I am getting 18x9 saleens, thanks 01mineralgrey, Might go 275 in rear
275 is the absolute narrowest you should go on a 18x9 rim. I have 275 on rear and front. If you even TOUCH a curb or pot hole or anything, kiss the lips of your rims goodbye. 275/35/18 look DAMN good on a 18x9 rim. It's what I have. But the sidewall is perfectly even with the rim.

do you get rubbing
now remember if you get diff tire sizes from front to rear you can not rotate them, I had this same ordeal when I had my chrome cobra R's...and you want enough meat on the sidewall to protect your rim from any road rash that could occur from stinking NJ road constant construction...

you already know what size is on the FR500's we have on the Mach1 ( NITTO 555 18's)
an 18x9" wheel should have a 275/35/18 tire. 275 is ideal, not the narrowest. the other day i saw 235/40/18's on an 18x9" rim... talk about too narrow, i could see the chrome lip from behind him easily! curb rash nightmare!

If you go narrower than 275, you're going to **** up your rims tremendously.

I've gone over the little ramp thing in driveways and destroyed the lip of my rims. Same thing with potholes. Same thing if you park too close to a curb.

You can physically go narrower than 275, yes, if you want to be spending money purchasing replacement 18" rims all the time. No thanks....
Personally I think 18s are silly, cost too much, and tires for them are ridiculously high priced! 17s look about the same, and a lot more resonable, rims and tires for them.
cant buy FR500s in 17s though, thats why i want 18s.
I thought the same thing. But like.. After I got my 18s, there's no way I'm going to get a car with anything less. They are so badass. Of course, maybe that's just because I spent $1500 on rims/tires and need to justify my expense. ;)

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I go to a Dodge dealership and realize I have the same size rims/tires as on the Viper.
Get an 03-04 Cobra, do just a few mods on it, then go to that same dealership and realize that your car will outrun and outhandle that same Viper, now THAT would make ya feel all warm and fuzzy.
I have FR500's with 265/35/WR18 up front & 295/35/WR18 rear on my GT.
Rick is just "size" envy...and look at it this way, fill the wheel well with more diameter of rubber, and that fills in that gap area of the 4x4 look on any V6/GT...more meat!

:drive:
Right now I have 275/40/17s on 17X9 95 Cobra Rs on the rear of my GT, 245/45/17s on 17X9s which will be replaced when they wear out by 275/40/17s on the front. Big enough for me. ;)
