Hey guys,
been a while since I've been on here. Still loving the stang. I just got curious about something. I was looking at tire's on AM and what if I put nitto-invo-255-40-19 on the back and sumitomo high performance HTR-Z 3 245-45-19 on the front. Would i run in to any problems? Do any of you all do this or know anybody that does?

Why would you want to put two different brands of tires on one car if you're purchasing them all 4 at the same time. That just doesn't make any sense to me. Especially since sumitomos are junk. Not only that but the 24545 is going to be noticeably taller then the 25540.

What's your reasoning? I cannot think of any circumstance in which I would do this (not that I'm always right but I can't make sense of what you're doing)

my guess is trying to run it like a drag car, so good tires in the back and whatever in the front since it only has to keep you going straight? I wouldn't do it either but to each their own.

I run 245 in the front and 315 in the back. No probs.

Sorry if i came off as if I would do this.
I was just curious. I would never do this. Just seeing if it would change anything dramatically to driving. But thanks for helping me out. I got some good insight.

OP,

The only time I would run a different tire in the rear is if it were a drag radial. At that point you need to realize the rear tires will behave very differently than the fronts around a turn. Once you get used to it, it's not that bad though.

However, what you were referring to is running two different street tires front and back, which is another store. As these guys already mentioned, nothing good can come from it!

Been running different front/rear combos on 3 different cars for years.

Front tires normally last 3x the rears.

On my 90lx, 03 cobra and 04 gt. Different sizes and brands.
