I just bought a used procharger from my friends blown mustang all the parts where inclueded all but the fuel pump and the tune now my question is before i run my blower i need to tune it do i need to buy a hand held tuner or a chip. Please help i wanna get this stang back on the road

Neither. You need to call a good dyno shop familiar with mustangs and book some time to get a custom tune.

If you are running nothing but the supercharger you can get a tuner with preloaded tunes for your application. I recommend SCT/BAMA tuners for lightly modified cars. If you have any other engine mods to go along with that supercharger to include an exhuast systems a dyno tune then becomes necisary to ensure you dont tear up your engine. If you are going to have the car dyno tuned then you will want to use what ever tuning device the shop that is tuning your car recommends to ensure they tune your car to their best ability.

Bama does not tune aftermarket supercharged engines to my knowledge. Too many variables.

+1. If you got a good deal on the blower then you should have the wiggle room to do things right. Don't risk it with a canned tune, it just isn't the same.

There are supercharger package suplier companies than sell SCT tuners with preloaded tunes for their kits. If money is tight I would try to aquire a tuner from one of those companies and tell them what you are using and need by phone. Paying for a dyno tune as soon as you can afford it after installation is complete will give you even more power and more reliable operation.

Get a dyno tune. Those tunes sent from the manufacturer are designed to get you to the dyno and that's about it. With supercharged applications you don't want to run the risk of pinging or running lean or anything like that.
