Ok, so I have a 1994 v6 and I am trying to figure out which route will be cheapest to get 500-550hp. To buy, and turbo and cover a 3.8 to a 4.3. Or swap in a 5.0?

I'll be honest with you bud, when i first got my mustang i had dreams of burning rubber and smoking everyone on the street, but i've come to realize that a V6 mustang is mostly for looks unless you have an ungodly amount of money to get it up to 500 horse. I'm in the process of saving up some cash, and keeping as many miles off the stang as i can in order to sell it. I plan on going V8, either supercharged GT or a 99 or 01 cobra. It's just easier i guess. Good luck though with whichever route you choose. It'd be impressed to see a 500 horse v6 flaunting around this forum.

Well was talking with my buddy and my v6 to get this power id need to bore. 30, get a 4.2l crank, forged internals, topend work, and a tt kit. For the 5.0 a tune, use -'93 bottom end for the forged internals, cobra heads and intake, and a single turbo, or nitro. But im trying to figure out which will be cheaper. The 3.8 modd or the 5.0 swap. Which do u guys think will be cheaper?

I have a 1994 single port v6 mustang. Ill need to buy a multiport v6 if I stay v6 so I'm buying a new motor no matter what.

a twin turbo v6 could see 700+ hp, theres one on youtube. It would be cheaper to go with the V8 but could you imagine the look on peoples faces when you smoke them with a V6.
i'm getting a used 5.0 from an old beat-up f-150. it's probably got 200,000+ on it, it was used by a construction site as one of there trucks( I don't know what work they did with it) and they flipped it. I'm getting it for free though so... i'm not complaining.

you will need the 5.0 bell housing but it should fit. People recommend getting a GT transmission. the twin turbo mustang guy said his transmission held up to 600 and it was a v6 transmission, made by roush...

If you get to 500hp with a 5.0 you have to buy an aftermarket block, they will just split in half..

As for the V6 you can dump as much hp as you want on the block its never been broken, as for the internals factory wise you can have 400rwhp if they do a very good tune, and I believe the 5.0's is similar to that rating factory wise

<5K forged bottom end assembled in block with arp hardware from SSM (or save money buy all parts and self assemble)
~2K BV heads with ported lower intake from KPP
250 cam from KPP
4200 single turbo street/strip kit (you can find used turbo kits floating around for a couple grand, sometimes a lot less, recent example there was a kit for 550 on V6P.net)
~600 in fuel upgrades
~1000 If you have a 4R70W trans a tq converter/cooler/shift kit is all you need
~1000 8.8 swap with better diff and 31spline axles

So at about 14K-15K in all new parts (probably add in another 500 or so for gaskets and some nice head studs)

I think that's everything :headscratch:

I don't think you counted labor for all that unless the op can do it
I did say parts sir lol

Of course, the hardest part would come assembled at that price which is the bottom end, heads intakes (by the way forgot cost of Windstar upper intake, ~100) bolt in the turbo kit eh not really hard if you have a Haynes manual for tq specs
