Hello everyone, I am fairly new to these boards but I am wanting to help my fellow Mustang lovers out. Ill start off by telling the story of my car. So I bought the car around 2 years ago after selling my 83 GT and decided I was going to do a quick flip since it was wrecked. I did some body work and it took me a few months to get it ready. Finally it took me several months to get the car right, just in time for me to take my girlfriend to our senior prom in. I believe the car ran for 3 days when I got it legal. Then I was cruising on the highway when the car shut off and decided to seize up. So I drug it home, and decided I was going to replace the v6 with another v6. Long story short I got enough money from graduation that I bought a wrecked 2001 Mustang GT. I swapped everything over, when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING lol. Anyway, I couldn't get the car to start which I thought the fuel pump was to weak and bought a high flow pump.. still nothing. So I decided to take it to my local Ford dealership (BIG mistake). They scanned the car for $90 just to tell me I needed a extra key made, which I was told would not charge me... Infact, that is the first $60 FREE key I have ever gotten lol, anyway before I get to the list of parts, I then took my car to an exhaust shop so they could weld my passenger side flange from the midpipe to the header on. After I got it back I found out that the beautiful motor had a horrible knock... which seized 2 days later. I went and bought a 2000 Lincoln town car engine (NPI) and put my PI heads on it. So thank you for reading my Mustangs life story, here is the parts list you will need:

Engine-4.6 SOHC

Transmission- NOTE: Automatic and manual cars have different computers and are not interchangeable.

Motor Mounts- The GT has different motor mounts and will not interchange.

Transmission mount-Also is not the same as a v6

Rearend- Only if you want limited slip and a more durable differential (v6 has a 7.5 and a GT has a 8.8 rearend)

Driveshaft- Not interchangeable with v6

Brakelines- GT has ABS and traction control

Fuel pump- The v6 pump will work but it will not deliver as well as the GT pump.

Dash Harness- Depends on if you are swapping everything in the same gen (EXAMPLE:99-04) If you are swapping different gen, you will need to swap dash harness

Brake pedal assembly- Gt has hydroboost, and v6 will not work with GT

Shifter cable (Automatic)- Same for v6 and GT

Ignition with Key- V6 will not work with GT

Gauge cluster- Will need swapped unless you get your ecu reflashed and mated to the V6 cluster. (GT has 150 MPH and v6 has 120 MPH)

Gem- This is the black box with a yellow sticker that is located directly in back of the driverside dash.

ECU- GT and V6 are not interchangeable

Airbag bag restraint box- behind shifter bezel behind dash

CCRM(Constant Control Relay Module) This should be attached to the harness that is located under the passenger side front fender. This will not interchange with the V6.

Engine Harness-Will not interchange with V6

Rack and pinion- Runs into brake system and will not work from V6

Transmission lines- they are no longer able to but so you will have to make your own, V6 will not work.

Radiator- different from v6 and GT

Hydroboost assembly-This is the braking system that comes through the firewall into the engine bay, is not interchanable.

Throttle cable & cruise control cable- They are shorter on the GT than the v6 and will not interchange.

Sway bars- Front sway bar is a lot bigger than the v6, also the rear sway bar is only on the GT 8.8 rear end

Quad shocks- ONLY for 8.8 rearend, this is a shock on each side of the rearend that goes to the frame of the car.

Reservoir tank- Tank sits on top of core support on GT, V6 sits in front of fan

Fan- GT fan (99-04) has 2 plug ins while (96-98) only have one plug in

AC system- Everything from lines to condenser is different from GT and V6

Shocks- Same for V6 and GT

Brakes- Same for V6 and GT

Starter- Is not interchangeable

Altenator- Is not interchangeable

Serpentine belt- Will not interchange

If there is anything else you are wondering that I may have forgotten, Please do not be shy to ask! I am more than happy to help!

That's one hell of a first post. Do you have any pictures of the car as it sits? I'm sure everybody would be interested in seeing it.
I am not sure how to post pictures on here. I will as soon as i figure it out lol
On the app or website?

Where were you a month ago. I just upgraded a 2001 convertible V6 with the V8 single overhead cam from a 2000 GT Coupe. I think the hydroboost will work if you get a longer pushrod. Also I had my 2 V6 keys reprogrammed with the V8 ECM. if you need any wiring diagrams I have both Ford manuals I can scan for you.
I appreciate it! I could probably use a traction control diagram because my cars ABS is constantly running so I had to disconnect it because it is draining my battery.
See mustangevolution.com/forum/f280t159261 by sniper cop cutting that brown/white stripe fixed my niece 2001 Mustang convertible parasitic drain- title is New Battery Dead after 10 days.... To me it doesn't look black/white though LOL
Will this still disable the traction control?
It might because it is the multiplex communication network wire. Light blue white stripe goes from the antilock brake control module to connecter 107 to connector 331 pin one. That is where I cut it because of 300 mA drain all the time.
Ill have to look at that tomorrow. I appreciate it!
