My vibration dampner came off my driveshaft when i had it off the other day(or at least thats what advanced auto said it was). Will it cause any problems driving without it bc the guy at a&a said i need a whole new driveshaft since it came off, and the guy at advanced said i have to go to either a dealership or some driveline store near the dealership but he said it might be expensive.

Obviously without it you will have some vibration which is not good, but how bad it will be is hard to say. Just trying it and see.

Wow from just what you posted seems like you're getting some really bad info. As long as the balancer came apart AFTER you took it of you should be fine just replacing it.
If you drive the car without it you will destroy your engine!.

Yeah those lil tabs can come of sometimes. Especially where I am in the midwest with the bad winters!
From my experience the fox's seem to have a bit of vibration in the drive shaft normally. Not sure is this just my opinion?
But I guess you could take it to a drive shaft specialist and get it rebalanced.
When I was in cali I replaced the split shaft in my camaro with a one piece for under $100!!
So im sure you could get it balanced cheap no?.

I think what he is referencing is the round balancer used on the front of the auto trans driveshafts.


I know the manual trans cars using the aluminum driveshaft report a smoother more vibration free operation. Part of the reason for that is that aluminum is better at dampening vibrations than steel is. :good:

I understand the concept and erting just sayin..you know this better than I..
Still I think a shop could balance it cheaper than buyin an entire new one right?..

Sox fan here, but I don't hate on the cubbies at all like most southside fans do!..I'm a chicago fan no matter what the team!

Yes, I'm sure they probably could. IF those things are not so far off they actually need a balancer that big to balance them.
P.S. I don't know jack about any ball teams, that was just a joke. :

So I should try it out and see? I'd like to get an aluminum driveshaft sometime in the future anyhow. Every picture I looked at on Google doesn't have this damper except on trucks.

Yeah, try it and see how bad it vibrates. It may get you by until you can do something else. Note that driveshafts need to be installed back in exactly the same position as they were removed or they will vibrate badly. They are usually marked from the factory, but that wears off eventually. If yours vibrates really bad you can try removing it and turning it over 180 degrees to see if it helps.

Alright. I did mark it on the end of the driveshaft bc the haynes manual said to so I know which way it goes at least. Thanks for the help. Guy at a&a tried getting me to buy a whole new driveshaft lol.
