DO NOT cut out any wires. Undo/unsnap/unplug any wiring that will not be used, because you will cause yourself electrical headaches later.

You will need to get V8 motor mounts. The most popular when on a budget are convertible motor mounts because of the strong one-piece design. You DON'T have to swap the crossmember unless the car was originally an inline six (I-6 1979-1982).

You will want to replace the suspension for V8 suspension. If it's a strip car you can just replace old parts using tried and true parts from Lakewood which makes drag suspension for these cars. If drag racing keep your four cylinder spring in.

do you want to continue to use the carb or fuel injection and also like stated are you in a state that will not allow a modified vehicle.Of course you need the motor mount for the 302 but it will bolt to the cross member in your mustang and maybe you need to change the front spring or maybe not you will know when installed. The trans needs to be changed and the 7.5 rear axle won't last too long with power of a V-8

If you are subject to an missions check, STOP now and save lots of money and headaches. If not, you have a lots of work ahead of you. Almost nothing fits between the new and old engine. Starting with the engine mounts, trans won't fit, rear end won't take the new horsepower. Gt the picture. If you go ahead with this, GOOD LUCK.
