What do you guys think?

So I have been wondering lately around how much HP and TQ should I have gained? I have an 06 GT 5 speed. I installed an Airaid race CAI, BBK 62mm throttle body, custom performance tune from my local shop "Speedo-motive", X pipe, with the mufflers taken out and made it straight pipes. I have heard the throttle body wasn't a good choice but I can tell this car is a completely different beast! I will say I was really surprised. Please let me know what you guys think! After everything it was about $1200.

I would say about 35 hp gain.
What kind of custom tune was it if it was at a local shop? Didn't they use a dyno? But i'd say with those mods 35 HP like Venemouz said is probably a good guess. Usually a CAI and the tune required brings about 20-25 HP on our 3v's so the throttle body and exhaust would give around 10 HP I'm guessing.
I'm going a bit more conservative. I wouldn't say anything more than between 15-25 depending on octane you went with and ambient air temp.
I think 15-25 is too conservative. You should get that from the CAI and tune alone. Plus you could expect another 15-20 from the TB and the exaust with an X-pipe. I think more like 45.
30-35 WHP easy, but that is email tune and x pipe as the throttle body would not give you any masurable gains until you're in cams, manifold and LT category.

CAI doesn't really give you anything, maybe 5 at most and the tune another 15-20. A TB isn't going to give you anything on a mostly stock car and unless its an off road x, the change from h to x won't net you anything worth noting either.

Non tune required intakes have shown upwards of 8WHP on an S197 because the stock design is pretty crappy. But most of the power as you stated comes from the tune itself, versus the intake.

We are in agreement then. So what you are saying is the CAI and tune gives you 20-25 which is what I said. I guess I should have not assumed no cats but I still think high flow cats will give you10-15. So I guess we just differ on how much is worth noting.
Quick question. I have a k&n cai which I don't believe required a tune. would a tune help it still?

Yes. A tune would definitely wake your car up. Especially if you have a CAI

Non-tuned required intakes really give you nothing since they do not increase the amount of air flowing into the engine. The reason why some require a tune is because they're increasing the diameter of the pipe which allows more air to pass by the MAF. The tune is required because the factory programming cannot make up for the added air. Show me a dyno run that backs up your non-tuned cai putting 8hp at the wheels.

The cats on these cars are not that restrictive, the most you'll be getting from removing a cat on the S197 is about 5hp. Most people run OR pipes because they make the car louder. It was a difference game on the SN95 and NE cars that had pre cats.

YOU made the claims that they do not provide power. The X pipes also provide decent gains. For their cost. Giving advice to the OP without providing the info is the same thing. Not busting your balls or nothing but you can't claim something and everyone is supposed to just take it in.

The K&N intake that has the slip in it to keep the car non tune required STILL showed 10WHP on brenspeed's dyno. That easy to find one. And yes, they do increase the volume of air with the open filter and the smoothed bend.

UPR X pipe has shown upwards of 10WHP. Brenspeed's own H Pipe which usually nets lower numbers by a smidge, netted 8WHP and 10lb/ft.

Fast fords got 7 and 7 from an X pipe.
How is it that you guys say a tb won't do anything without more mods yet there are dynos proven that the BBK 62mm tb just on it's own gives 15WHP and 20 TQ

I'd like to see the independent dyno that shows that

We said it doesn't do anything unless he has cams and manifold or heads. The few TB dynos out that show gains are usually on s/c cars.

I have never seen a TB show 15whp and 20TQ, even SC

+1, usually a TB is never tested by itself on the dyno

It should be, to settle this once and for all. Also AM should dyno each CAI they sell with no other mods and settle that as well.

+1.5 million.
