So I recently blacked out my fogs to make them blend in behind my grille (thread on that here) and the fogs have become completely unusable so I want to get some HID fogs to counter the tint a bit. But I want them to match my stock HIDs, which are 4300K. I dont know if I should go with 4300K or if I should go 6000K, because the tint makes my fogs look a different color and I'm not too sure which would be the best option to counter the tint. I just want them usable again to some extent, while maintaining the blacked out look. I appreciate opinions guys!

Well my conclusion is since 4300k is the brightest, they would be the best choice to shine through dark tint. Sure the 6k is whiter but the light output isn't as much as 4300k which means the 6k's light would be stopped by the tint.

not really....what you call light output is really visible light. they both have a 35w or 55w output that doesn't change due to the bulb. Now how your eyes interpret visible light i can't comment on, but for the masses a 4300k would not be a good choice..

my recommendation for a tinted headlight would be a 55w 5-6k...go further past that and you'll lose visible light even with the same output. Now keep in mind that in a 55w setup you'll wash out the color so if you wanted a certain color tinge you'll need to bump up the k...if you need pics of the different temps i've tested out just pm me

I have 4300K's on the fogs and headlights of my F150. To me, they are the purest white and I think would look best. But they will not be as bright as your stock headlights. The tint will prevent that. Getting 6000K or higher will not compare to the 43's. Btw over time, the HID bulbs will dull out. I've had my 43's for about 2 years and they now have a slight hint of purple in them. I guess it's time for new bulbs.

Mine are 55W. And They'll kick 47K's ass! :D
so now i'm confused...do your bulbs say 4300k? which brand? with a 55w you're washing out the color so a 4300k in a 55w shouldn't be white, but tinged closer to a 4100k but bright (about 4200-4400 lumens bright)

They are by Phillips and yes, I was very specific about ordering 4300K bulbs. Here's a pic to give you an idea.

maybe...so far i've been running my kit for a few years and can't tell any difference but it's a 35w kit so that could be why. although i'm looking into a new 55w hi/lo kit, and shifting my 35w ballasts to my fogs
