What is a ballpark figure of worth of 1964 mustang convertable in "salvage" condition?
The early model 64½ isn't worth any more than a 65, the 170 six is actually worth less..
the value of a v8 convertible that's restorable is $4560, a six is 20% less or $3648, the more rust it has the less it's worth..
The bottom price for a parts car is around $1500..
That's what the book says, from my experience, a restorable rolling v8 chassis without much rust is worth about $8k and more if it's a A or K code, but then they aren't early models..

Define salvageable. If you've got a clean rust free body you're probably looking in the neighborhood of 3-4k but I'd check the vin on the car since the closer to a 64 1/2 it is, the more you can get for it. If you've got something other than a black interior and the steering wheel is in good shape you're going to get more for that since the non black steering wheels in good shape are few and far between.
Also, is it a V6 or V8? Automatic or stick?
Your best bet is to contact a local Mustang club or check Hemmings Motor News to get a ballpark figure. Anybody in the club is going to want to pick it up for a song so use Hemmings as a guide.

They didn't technically make a 1964 Mustang. The first year was 1964 1/2 - Ford often introduced models or changes to models and called them "1/2" year models.
Since this was the first year for the Mustang, it could be worth a little more than salvaged later models. It really could depend on the condition and originality and options. An original V8 Mustang convert could be worth several thousand dollars if it's complete with original motor, transmission, etc.. but just in non-running condition and needing everything.
If it doesn't have the original drive train, needs most all body panels replaced, has rusted through floorboards, etc... but is complete with VIN and title, it may be in the $1000 range - less if it has no interior, motor, trans, rear, top, etc...

What you should be asking is what are YOU willing to spend and put into it to restore it. Is it really worth doing as a factory stock car. How much is left of the Mustang in salvage condition. Most junk yards would be more than glad to pay you about $100.00 for a completely stripped out hulk of a Mustang. Depending on its overall condition and if it even had a drive train what is the condition of the body panels, how banged up and rusty are they. If you are going to restore it back to stock you can easily figure you will spend a minimum of $10,000 before it even hits the streets. How much are you willing to put in with time and money. Sometimes you have to admit they are just too far gone if they are rotted away. They is a lot you can do these days with parts to bring it back and most parts are re popped from overseas.
Of course if this belongs to you and you want to sell it, stick it on ebay with a flurry of pictures and see what people would be willing to pay. The more complete of a car it is the more it is worth, the 289 / 260 that year were special to 1964 and internal changes happen in 1965 along with the 260 V8 only used in the 1964 Mustang. It is discontinued in 1965. If you manage to get about $5,000 you are pretty lucky in this market.
