I have a 1995 Ford Mustang base model:
Engine: 3.8 V6 5 speed Standard
Want:Ford Gt 5.0
Can i change my v6 with a 5.0 and retain same tranny? or do i have to change it out and if so what transmission do i require?

i know you have heard this but your best bet is to just sell the V6 and buy a 5.0 GT it would be cheaper. i dont believe the tranny would even fit on the GT motor and you would still have to change out your rear end. you could probably sell you V6 for 2-3 thousand and pick up a 5.0 for about 3-5 thousand maybe even less. but i do know that those years GT used a T5 transmission.

the bell housing bolt pattern and crank pilot on the 3.8 v6 and the 5.0 v8 are the same.
a 5.0 will bolt up to your current tranny.
with a 5.0 hooked to the stock v6 drive-train you will have a tire blazing street-rod.

You should have T-5 transmission it's a manual. It will handle the power of the 302. The Fox bodies used the T-5 as the standard transmission in the LX 5.0 and GT models.

beware! there is 15 different variations of the t5! the v6 5sp is too low geared for the v8. and the diff is too high ratio good for accel but bad for crusin.
