I've been having a little dispute with some friends lately about which of my cars weighs more. I have a 1966 Mustang and a 2007 Mustang. Now, my friends and I are all gearheads and they seem to think that the '66 weighs more, but I'm the only one who has driven both cars and I'm pretty well convinced that the '07 weighs more. I'm thinking that maybe the bigger engine in the '66 might lead me to think that (the '66 has a 5.0L V8 and the '07 has a 4.0L V6) the '07 is bigger, but the '07 is a boat compared to the '66 when it comes to size. The '66 just feels a lot lighter behind the wheel and definitely looks it. Does anyone know for sure what the weight difference is? I can't find anything about it.

curb-weight range, pounds: 2,445-2,800 (1965); 2,488-2,800 (1966)

2007- premium 2 door convertable is the heaviest at 3601,

so the '66 is lighter by far

2007 by far even though the 66 is pure steel and the 07 is carbon fiber/ aluminum the 2007 has power seats, mirrors, ac/heat (66 could have that by much simpler and smaller by today's standards) airbag, sound insulation, major wattage for the tunes, 6 disc cd changer etc.

Believe it or not the new Mustang is much heavier

about 2500 lbs for the 66 and 3500 lbs for the 07

All the extra bells and whistles and modern safety equipment make it heavier.
