I have a 1989 Mustang and I want to replace the stock 5.0L with a bigger engine. I do realize that major frame and suspension modifications will be necessary as well. Here is a list of what I am aiming for:

- 330 hp
- 400 lb-ft torque
- Naturally aspirated
- Fuel injector setup
- Low compression preferred

1) What would be the better engine to use: 351 windsor or a 460?
2) What additional modifications would be necessary?

you can get those numbers from your 5.0 and save the weight of the 460 and as far as naturally aspirated that means its carburetors and the compression is ok and the injectors well as far as set up what exactly is it that you mean the current 5.0 in it is injected already there's no reason to go bigger with the engine the 302 is capable of putting that kind of power out but its up to you my advice buy the crate 5.0 that you got those horse power and torque numbers from

Patrick,
Without major modifications to the engine compartment your 5.0L is probably the biggest displacement you can handle. A 351 Cleveland or Windsor, maybe, but get ready to cut some metal before that would happen. And a 460? No way in hell. Good luck.
