im buying a mustang 5.0 soon and wanna know which is faster acceleration and topspeed i wanna automatic because im tired of buying clutches and stuff so help me out and whats the difference between the 5.0 premium and just the 5.0? help.
good choice on the 5.0 mustang. ford has come a long way bringing back the 5.0 any way 0-60 can be anywhere from 4.5secs to 5secs depending on who is driving it. the 5.0 can run high 12s in the 1/4 but most drivers will run mid to low 13s. stick is good but me i prefer automatic. i don't like having to shift all the time. where i live its a pain. ive beating plenty of manuals in my auto. if you aren't really good with racing a manuel then just get the auto. 80% of people cant drive them for there life. I believe the 5.0 premium is full leather interior while the regular 5.0 is cloth. not sure on that one though
The manual models have the 3.55 and 3.73 rear axle ratios available from the factory the automatic models can only be had with 3.31 gears. The manual is a little lighter as well. It's entirely possible to get an accurate 0-60 time when using professional and calibrated timing equipment. Using a stopwatch or GPS won't be terribly accurate though since there's a human element involved with the stopwatch and GPS is only accurate up to 20-30 feet in some cases which can lead to inaccurate results.
The GT Premium gets you leather seats, the Shaker 500 audio system, and allows you to purchase some options that are available on the base GT package.
Sean is right about the clutches. If you're having to replace the clutch more than every 100k miles ( and it's fairly common to go even further than that) miles or so, you don't know how to drive properly.
Learn to drive a stick and you won't have to keep buying clutches.
0-60 times are really immeasurable, because there is nothing quick enough to shut off the timer when the car is going EXACTLY 60mph, so it could be wrong by as much as 1/2 of a second. Distance timing is much more accurate. And in distance timing, only one thing matters, 1/4 mile. The manual is about 1/2-3/4 second faster than the automatic, which isn't a small amount. Also, the automatic has the speed limiter set lower (142) than the GT (155). Can't help you on the standard vs premium, but I'd bet the premium has leather/mach 1000 standard, along with other niceties.
