it all depends on which models you are comparing, if you take a 69 Z28, It's the best, but if you take the plain jane 69 six cylinder Camaro and put it againt any of the 302 Mustangs, then the Mustang is the winner and lets not forget the 78 Mustang King Cobra.. it was a good handling V8 powered car..

No body wants a 6 cylinder classic car, there are just a lot more desireable with a V8..and if any of us got one, the first thing we would do is yank the six and put in a screamin V8, then it wouldn't be a stock classic anymore.. then it becomes a resto-rod..

but compaing a 60's muscle car to a 70's smog and MPG mileage car is not a fair comparison..

Well i like never see '78 mustangs around so itd be kinda cool to own one but probably out of these 2 the camaro just because it sounds way better than a '78 mustang and much more of a muscle car. If it was a '69 mustang then id def go for the mustang but im not big on the l8r 70's mustangs.

defiantly a 69 camaro, its so many companies out there making and selling reproduction parts for 69 camaros, plus since its one of the most popular muscle cars if you ever decided to sell it there will be no problem finding people to pay good prices for it

LOL The Camaro, of course. The Mustang is too 'new', and was born in the middle of the gas crunch, meaning the engine was underpowered and heavily smog protected.

the 1969 Camaro is the better classic car . Its faster than the 1978 Mustang II and the Camaro is older which makes it a classic

NO contest. Camaro. The mustang II was a disappointment much like the "Edsel", but virtually ALL cars of that era were sickly dogs with NO power (other than power windows).

I LOVE Fords but please do not ever suggest that a Mustang II could ever be a classic. That was an insult to the Camaro.

You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.deep-ice.com

camaro... the mustang II was merely an economy car with a muscle car badge. my 1.8l 4cyl is putting out more hp than the 5.0 did that year.
