Why do the Mustang 2's (1974-78) recieve such a bad reputation? I personally think they're pretty stylish cars and in my opinion they're a hell lot better than the early 1980s Mustangs, I wouldn't mind owning a Mustang 2 and I think they're decent cars.

the bad reputation was the result of outraged mustang fans complaining of the small size and lack of a V8 option in the 74 and 75 models.
They shared some parts with the pinto, but the design and engineering were completely new and the ride quality, handling, and soundproofing were better than previous mustangs. (except for shelbys race proven handling capabilities) One could also argue that the 64 1/2 - 70 mustangs were just restyled falcons, and the 71-73 was just too large and heavy for any real performance with anything less than a big block under the hood.

Opinions about them vary, but they kept the mustang in production until horsepower became popular again in the early 80's

I love mustangs, but the mutt stang 2s were just early escorts. Ugly 4 bangers, what a mistake ford made. They could have at least put some style in it if they were not going to put some balls

Well there was a time that Harley Davidson motorcycles were considered the worst bikes. They leaked oil on the showroom floor. It's either perception or truth...............

Ford hasn't produced a good mustang since 1973. The new mustangs are better than than before, but could still use some improvements. Take the 80's mustang for example. I would like you to show me a bigger disgrace to a muscle car. And on top of the styling and under powering, They were junk!!
