Sure. They were optional engine for those years. 1967 Shelby GT500 engine was a 428. 1967 Mustang 390 motor is a S code motor.

1967 was the first year big blocks were offered in Mustangs, the 390 and 428 are the same basic block and bolt right in. The only difference will be if you are going from a 6 or small block V8 you will need different engine mounts and cross members, the suspension from a 6 to a big block is a lot stiffer.

There are both from the same FE family and were offered that year, you just have to collect the correct factory parts..

YES, it takes some work but there are kits and sites to give you all the info you will need.....good luck !
