Hi,

I'm on a tight budget right now as I am also trying to save up for a tuner, but was looking at several rear window louvers on ebay for around 130ish dollars and while I do like American muscles louvers alot, I can't really justify $300 dollars towards them at the moment. Would you say the quality of these are decent, or would be total trash?

Thanks.

I've read a lot of bad things about the cheap ones and that the wind causes excessive noise while driving. I've also heard things about the fitment. But like the above post you get what you pay for. Better off saving up and doing it right the first time.

I've got a set of those ebay louvers on my car and I really like them. They were a bit flimsy until I added some foam center supports that rest on the glass, now they are quite sturdy and quiet at 80MPH. I also replaced the Chinese tape on the anchor plates with 3M VHB so they are not coming off. I think thay are more streamlined than the pricey louvers and blend withe body lines a bit better. To each his own though, they do block rear vision but that is what back-up cameras are for.
Edit: I just noticed that you are looking for '69 Mach 1 louvers and I was talking about the S197 version for my 2012 so I have no clue about the ones that fit your car, sorry.

I agree with chowdog, ditch the louvers and use the $$$ towards the tuner. Cheap aftermarket louvers=poor fit, poor adhesive hence noise, fly off, get run over.

I ordered the Louvers off EBay. But they are all warped/ sunk in in the middle louver area. They are super thin & flimsy. They're still in the box as I wont use them. I did get a refund though...so it's all good !!!

If you decide to order off EBay....Stay Away from the companies in La Puenta CA. !!!
They are all the same company going under about 10 names. I've ordered many plastic parts ( Chin Spoiler / Hood Scoop / Side Skirts / GT500 Spoiler / 1/4 Window Louvers / etc.) 9 out of 10 times the parts were warped & had to be returned. I've had better luck with other companies not in that town.

Thanks guys. I've decided to wait on it. I had a 25 dollar ebay coupon and wanted to get something fairly cheap. As far as LA Puenta goes ibelieve all the louvers I looked at were coming from there.

Sounds to me like you made the right choice. Pay once to do it right the first time vs paying again to fix it in the probably not too distant future.

I actually did lol. Used that 25 bucks to snag a cold air intake from American muscles ebay page.
