Every once in awhile my mustang, with 45K miles, has trouble cranking. The symptoms include a longer crank duration than my normal and more common ones. After it does crank, the RPM needle shakes rapidly below 0 RPMs before going up to normal crank range. This has occurred on both level and angled ground. I have had more than a half a tank of gas during all but one occurrence. With 45K miles I'm wondering if there is a component i should replace or upgrade? I bought her with 41K. It also seems to be happening more often lately as well. ANY help is much appreciated. Thanks you.

Have you run a diagnostic, no error codes or anything out of the normal? Double check you battery terminals and your Ground cable...Autozone will do a free battery/alternator check for you. Also check your coil packs make sure there are no loose or wet connections. I'm just throwing ideas of what it might be... Hope this helps...
This isn't exactly the same, because I'm speaking about a '99 camry. However, it had the exact same issue you are describing and it was spark plug related, although in my case it ended up being the wiring and not the plugs.
To anyone who was curious, turns out it was the battery. They performed tests that resulted in 0 cranking amps compared to the normal 590 on the stock battery. A new battery is in and everything is just fine. Thank you all for the input!
