f150 5.0 swap?

I'm getting a 5.0 out a of early 90's maybe late 80s f150.(getting it for free)
Its got a 5.0 efi. I think these only had close to 180hp.(different firing order from the mustangs 5.0 HO)

Can I just buy a 5.0 HO crank, cam and distributor and throw it in my 5.0 standard block? or is there a slight difference with the block?
If I can't go with HO route I think I'll still build the 5.0
I'm looking to get at least 300hp.

I'll probably go carbureted since that would be cheaper and I read that the stock EFI on f150's isn't too good for power.

If you want 300 RWHP go with a trickflow topend kit. But yes you can swap the cam in no problem just make sure you have an engine newer than 86 if you dont want PTV clearance issues with a HO cam

Best off posting this in the correct forum fyi 79-95

for optimum drivability, tuning ability and BEST power in ANY given situation go with EFI unless you know what you are doing with carb tuning

Really? but if the firing order is different wouldn't the crank have to be different?
If the cams and intake are the only difference I'll just buy an aftermarket cam and intake.
Yes really, if it's a roller engine it's a straight forward swap. If its a non roller my understanding is its a simple mod to make it accept a roller cam and lifters.
