I'm currently weighing all my options for exhaust on my 12'V6. I've seen some videos on YouTube with the Flowmaster 10 & 44 series mufflers, and I'm wondering if anyone has heard these on a v6 or currently has them??. Also, what's involved with the installation? Yes I know...another exhaust question! Lol

I have flow 10s
IMO I only did it because it was really inexpensive.
i would not do it again :p
It sounds pretty good with cats on.. but I'm catless. so it gets this really weird tone at above 3k rpm

Yeah I saw your video's, actually your video's is what me start researching the 10's and 44's lol. I thought your car sounds good with the setup you have. Did you have to have everything welded on? I'm just wondering how much the welding would cost?

Borla is straight through designed just like magnaflow. Flows have chambers and so do FR mufflers. You need chambered to keep the throttle tight. My flows give more torque than my roush w/resonators and I deleted the resonators. Any system will have drone at a rpm below 2k if it not restrictive or straight pipe. If it doesn't drone it means it's quiet, and has a lot of packing. If you want loud you will have to live with some drone. Being 40's and the next thing down are 10's I get the same drone levels as the roush but they are significantly deeper to the point it vibrates your chest with the throaty tone. Needless to say, I made a v6 into a v8 at idle and anything below 4.5k rpm.

*compared to a 454 chevelle idle*

Haha I highly doubt you changed the firing order of the motor and added two cylinders because that's the only way your gonna make a six sound like an 8. Id like to hear some videos of your setup cause I heard some welded in flow master 40's and I really didn't like how they sounded at wot but they sounded good at idle and rev.

And The Borlas actually have no drone. That is one of the reasons they cost so much. It was engineered for the 3.7 engine specifically to eliminate vibrations and frequencies common with other aftermarket mufflers. Borla put research and development into the axlebacks system. The other companies just use universal mufflers but set them up to be bolt on/off. Even with my catless h pipe I have no drone At all cruising at any speed. Just a slight engine note when climbing grades. In a straight line cursing at 65 I barely hear anything. The exhaust can be over powered by turning up the radio to two bars

That's what I just said if you cared to read my post. Not all v6 owners are delusional on how their car sounds. I know full well that a high revving quad cam small displacement six cylinder won't sound like a v8. It will sound more like an exotic/ European car.

Talking **** about it though is not gonna get you anywhere. And if you want to talk about pissed off bumblebees go listen to how raspy an e46 m3 is with exhaust mods. And people think those sound "amazing." It's all a matter of preference. I do think the v8 sounds better. But the 3.7 is the best sounding six cylinder I've heard other than a GTR

ok so i'm not sure if the OP ended up with his question fully answered so I'm just gonna ask,

OP, did you decide which ones you're getting?

Because I have Original 40's welded on mine. Still have stock pipes and the tips from the stock mufflers were cut off and welded to the 40's. Now i don't have any videos of mine but if you haven't made your decision yet i'd be more than happy to compile a video of take off, highway, and cruising sounds to give you a better idea of how it might sound. Now mind you i have a JLT CAI and a 93 performance tune but it'll at least give you a decent sound bite.

We like our 6's to sound nice and beefy FOR 6'ers. It's obvious we'll never sound like an 8 and i for one absolutely love the sound of the 40's. I still get compliments all the time at work and when i've done a little play racing around my area with other random cars. They ask if mine's an 8 (and that's probably because they really just don't know the difference in sound like all of us here on this fine forum) and they are always pleasantly shocked that mine's a 6 (and that they got dusted...lulz) but i digress.

IMO: 40's work wonderfully for the 6, if you haven't made your decision, i can make a video clip by Wednesday, probably. Let me know!

I heard white's set-up and it sounds really good!

Here a video I made today. Had a smudge on the lens. Btw this an iPhone 5 camera so the quality is best heard right at your ear or with headphones. YouTube tends to cut some quality also, hence why it looks dark on a sunny day.

Wow..that sounds pretty good! Definitely sounds better then some of the bolt on axle backs I've heard...keep the vids coming! Lol
