My 04 gt has been making a knocking/clanking type noise from the front right wheel when I turn to the left.... I am not sure what this could be? Ball joint maybe? Any input would be appreciated ..thanks

It could very well be a ball joint does this only happen when turning left? Any other symptoms that you are noticing? Like wheel play, or vibration, or both? Are your tires stock, or larger? Is it lowered? If so how long has it been lowered. This will point us in the right direction.

It could very well be a ball joint.

What you want to do: is lift the car up either using a jack and stands, or lift. Grasp the top and bottom of the tire. (At about 2 and 7) Push in at the top, and pull out on the bottom.

Also try to push up and pull down on the control arm. If there is any movement then it is time to replace.

Also check the tie rods etc. my guess is the ball joints have gone.

If you ball joint is ok, check the rack and pinion bushings and make sure that they are cracked. A test you can do is take a can of WD40 and soak the bushings and see if the noise goes away. I have seen when you turn the bushings are bad and cause the rack and pinion to move and causing it to in the frame where it bolts up. Try those two things and let us know cuz i have alot of test and things you can look for cuz I had the same noise and it ended up being a worn spring cushion on the control arm.
