Funky smell coming from vents

So pretty much the point being, I get a weird smell from my vents when I accelerate aggressively, like let's say, speed limit going from 55 to 75...or just flat out WOT. Smells like burnt hair to me.

Any ideas?

What is your mileage?

I only had this problem for the first few months I've owned my stang. Once I put a couple thousand miles on it, it doesn't smell anymore.

All that I smell now is rubber from the tires :D

This totally happened to me for the first time in owning my car for 3 years, yesterday morning. Car has 33K miles. I went WOT about 3 minutes after starting. Ironically, I went WOT to catch up to a 2015 Mustang GT that passed me as I was turning on to the main road, lol. Anyway, smelled exactly how you described. I tried to replicate it a few minutes later when entering the expressway, but I did not get it that time, and I haven't been able to get it back ever since. So, carbon buildup in the cats burning off is a possible explanation, I think.

I think you're right because I indeed got a little impatient before 1,000 miles and went hard a couple times. I went on a long road trip the day after I bought it through these beautiful scenic drives, totally open roads, and it was just too tempting. Those of you who have also gotten the smell... does this explanation fit for you? And what exactly is the damage to the cats that happened in this case? What other damage might have happened due to going to hard before the break-in?
