Here's The question. I have a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0. It has a steady cold air intake exhaust in SCT tuner with 93 Race program. Can it be a stock 2008 Corvette. My buddy really wants to race me but I do not want to ruin the Mustangs reputation of being a badass should I do it or not. he says he can smoke me

You can't throw a dead cat in most parts of the U.S. without hitting a local dragstrip/racetrack where you can SAFELY have your grudge match on a Friday or Saturday night.

See, I managed to bring the 'dead cat' and 'safety' subjects back around in an on-topic AND informative manner!

Yay, Me!

Just found online and the specs for a vette z51 is 12.8 in the 1/4 mile and a 4.5 0-60, the 2013 5.0 does a 12.7 and 4.3 0-60.
It is still a close race so bring your A game for sure!!!!

You know it! Human blood is one thing but cat guts are difficult to get off paint.
Sounds like you've run over your share of cats haha.

Well I assume you're talking about the base vette. If he's any good at all he'll walk you without much problem. Those vettes are pretty damn light and push more power and have much better tires. Numbers give you a starting point but don't tell you everything. Race him anyways... On the track of course. Just have a good time, who cares if he wins, he still has a Chevy and a small penis lol

I'll know soon... mom's got an 07 auto vette dad just picked up 11 gt w track pack.stick ... Stang feels faster but the vette has launch control and u just press the gas... it's going to be close unless they hit turns... then my mom will lose lol cuz my dad is fearless and she will not hit the corners at speed

from experience they are pretty equal if you have 3.73's. its all about the driver!....the only time the vette has advantage is at high speed = less drag

its not really a good comparison but will put a vette in its place and just for them to come back well race the zr1 against it lol. Then we have a 5.8 still less displacement and walk it by a car lol. 5.0 vs camaro then 5.0 vs vette then 5.8 vs zr1 or boost the 5.0 and then race the zr1. I can just say ford did a very good job on the new motor i mean old design but finally made it happen.

Just spray on him and tell him its stock and leave him scratching his head lol.

Come on guys,...lets get real. Stock 5.0 vs stock z06, vette wins hands down. I'm actually contemplating buying a new z06,...and have the 5.0 as a dd.
Maybe.

If one adds the other factors of this thread-age difference, mods, tuning- then getting real means it is more likely the 5.0 will win than the chevy.

A few posts ago the stats were posted stock vs stock, with a .2 second quarter mile difference, I believe. Before aging, mods, and tuning.

Just to let everyone one know. The stang came out ahead by a car length. His corvette was a stock base line 2008 but it was still fast ass hell of the line. Took him at the end

At the track right?

If you were able to beat him, he needs a few driving lessons. LS3 Corvettes run high 11s/low 12s in the mid-high teens with the right drivers. Your car on any given Sunday *should* be a couple/few tenths behind by the end of the 1/4 mile. And it only gets worse from there. Should be a really good race with an LS2 Corvette though. But of course anything can happen in a race, so enjoy your victory. Just don't think it will happen every time. Those LS3 Corvettes are nothing to be taken lightly.
