I have a JLT cai and someone have me a k&n cai cleaning kit. Can I use it? I'm assuming it works the same way I just want to make sure. If not, how should I clean it?

I guess another reason why I just replace mine is due to the salty climate I live in on the coastline. The filter gets rust pits on the mesh, which is also one of the reasons why I painted my heat shield and intake tube.

I do have a "drop in" K&N in my F-150 and I do use the recharge kit for that bugger. :D

Yes, K & N uses a Air Filter Oil (Step 2). It comes in a 6.5oz aerosol can that you spray on the after the filter has been thoroughly cleanse (rinsed) and air dried. It is also the last step in cleaning your JLT air filter.

(Step 1) 12oz Cleaner comes in a pump bottle that is sprayed on the inside as well as on the outside of the filter completely saturating it. You allow it to soak 10 minutes, then rinse it with cold water. Depending on how dirty it was, you may need to do this process twice.
It's important to let your filter AIR DRY NATURALLY and completely before appling the oil. I always clean my filter at night that way it can dry while I am sleeping and in the morning I spray the filter! They K&N say to allow the oil to wick I say allow to soak oe penetrate the cotton filter.
At K&N High Performance Air Filters, Air Intakes, & Oil Filters it runs $13.46

JLT has a new product, S&B Precision II: Cleaning and Oil Kit. It is actually less then K&N Cost per volume, I mean. It runs $29.00 but you get enough for 3 - 4 filter cleanings 32oz bottle and their filter oil. their product, actually the spray bottle of cleaner is no longer a pump but is now a trigger spray making it a thousand times better to spray and/or use.

You can check out their website ar JLT PERFORMANCE, Home of the JLT TRUE COLD AIR KIT. And There You Have It! I didn't intend for this to be so long!

This is some good info. My BBK filter is blue. I've heard the K&N cleaning kit has a red spray is this true because I like the blue filter that I have now and don't want it turning red.

contact Jay at JLT and double check that the K&N recharge kit will work for the S&B filters they sell.

I just purchased a new filter for 35 bucks due to recharging them gets a ton of oil everywhere. If you recharge it clean the maf after 200 or so miles (say a week) then again two weeks later and maybe one more time a month later. That gunk can mess up stuff.
