I've read various ways to do this but the information is all over the place. Some say use the differential. Some say don't. Some say use the K-member. Some say don't. I know the pinch welds are meant to be the OEM jacking spot. What are y'all using to jack there? Hockey puck? Wood?

Since I have had my car I have used the K-Member and differential for lifting without issue. When using the differential I use a phone book, a catalogue or thick cardboard pieces to apply less stress on the differential cover to avoid causing an issue with the seal. I have had a BMR K-Member for a number of years and made up a 2 x 6 with holes drilled to fit the steering bolts to position the 2 x 6.

Since this picture was taken I have made up 2 x 6 blocks that are two thick and three thick that are screwed together.

In this picture you can see the Steering bolts I position the jacking board under.

I also installed sub frame connectors on my car and they make excellent jacking points. Using them as a jacking point will lift the whole side of the car.

I like to work on the underside of the car with the wheels resting on 12” Race Ramps wheel cribs. The wheel cribs while not cheap are light weight and very strong.

I place small blocks of wood just inboard of the pinch welds at the factory jacking points and lift with a floor jack.

No issues. If you use two blocks right next to each other inboard of the pinch weld, you can use one block for the floor jack and the other block for the jack stand.

Works great for me and the wood blocks can be had for a good price. :)

Sounds good. Thanks.

You just use 2x4 blocks?

I used the pinch welds when I dropped my pan last week and when I swapped out my wheels and they held up just fine. And I had it jacked up pretty high. I put the jack stand on the spots to the sides of it and it was all good.

If you go this route just make sure you don't get under the plastic side skirt and you should be fine.

My (former) dealer didn't get that memo!

The 'pinch welds' are plenty safe and strong enough to jack up your Mustang. Ford Motor Company is not going to risk legal action over something as simple as this. Just saying.........:)
